One thing women don't like about Botox -- besides the injection itself -- is waiting several days for it to fully take effect. But there's hope on the horizon. The FDA could approve PurTox in 2008, a highly diluted botulinum toxin that hopes to improve this time lag as well as eliminate the risk of drifting that causes the eyelid to droop temporarily in 5 percent of Botox patients.
Elasticity Booster
Sun exposure, cigarette smoke, and stress can all deplete the skin of its elastin -- and its resiliency. Beginning in April, a new eye cream, Relastin, will be available that will restore springiness to skin and diminish fine lines and wrinkles.
Lipo Without Incisions
Two similar competing systems in development, UltraShape and LipSonix, eliminate small amounts of body fat at a time, allowing patients to lose up to an inch in one treatment and go right back to work. Both systems could be available by 2007.

What a joke! I heard of lipozap on the radio and was interested in loosing some weight the WRONG way. I meet with an individual at their fancy high rise Lipozap office and was convinced by her that the product was the best and even it did not work I would get a full 100% refund.Well the side effects that took place after my first real treatment were so strong I was not able to work. I was suffering from extreme severe nausea and vomiting and complete loss of any appetite I could not eat and was throwing up all the time. If I did lose any weight it was because I could not eat and was throwing up every few hours not from the joke of lipozap. It would have been cheaper to just become anorexic.I did continue my treatments even with the side effects I was told by a lipozap nurse that the side effects are normal, I was willing to suffer to lose the gut, it did not help. After my primary Doctor told me to stop the treatment I did. We were not able to determine what caused this strange reaction and lipozap claims no responsibility. I stopped the treatment just short of completing the full treatment. I might add that I am still having problems with my appetite and nausea.I was told by the first nurse I talked to once I stopped the treatment that she would process the FULL refund due to the reaction to the treatment. What a joke that was, she was nice and helpful and agreed that we should stop and issue a full refund. This never happened; I was then told that I would not get any reimbursement. It has been a joke after much complaining I was told I would get the 100% refund and was sent a full release of claim I signed and sent back. Only to find out that the person who issued a full refund was wrong and I would still have large portion to pay. I cant get any one on the phone now just emails, which they dont respond to. Sept. 10, 2007 (KABC-TV) - "You've probably heard the ads -- an alternative to liposuction injections that dissolves fat. Sound too good to be true? The main ingredients of the shots are not FDA-approved.
So is it safe and does it work? One local doctor says it can help, but consumers need to ask the right questions.
Thirty-four-year-old Lisa Gold had full-body liposuction a year ago. She said it left her body uneven.
"I just wanted to try to be the thinnest that I could be, but that surgery really screwed me up," said Gold.
Instead of more surgery, she opted for something that promised hardly any down time -- a fat-dissolving injection. It requires several injections in problem areas.
"You'll feel like somebody worked you out really hard at the gym," said Gold.
The main part of the injection is made of ingredients not FDA-approved -- phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate (PCDC).
"The fat is broken down and it's absorbed by the body, and it's excreted mostly in the stool and urine," said lipotherapy specialist Dr. Raffi Dishakjian.
The injections are marketed under many names -- LipoZap, Lipo-Dissolve, and Lipomelt.
Thirty-one-year-old Jenny Santoni had lipotherapy on her back. (You can watch the video and see that she does look better after her lipotherapy treatment.)
"I feel better. I can wear tighter shirts," said Santoni.
"The looser the fat, the sort of buttery loose fat, tends to respond better than firm fat," said Dr. Dishakjian.
But like all procedures, it has risks. There have been complaints of infection, disfigurement, severe cramping, bloating, and dehydration.
In fact, in Kansas the procedure is restricted to physicians, and they must use it as part of an investigational trial.
Dr. Dishakjian says it's common to experience itching, redness, and sometimes bruising. He also says he tells his patients it's considered an off-label use, and says many of the serious complications are the result of poorly trained practitioners.
Consumers need to ask tough questions.
"They need to know the training of the physician, his technique, and how aggressive or safety-oriented the practice is," said Dr. Dishakjian. "Where do they get their supplies, and how many treatments has the doctor done, and in how many areas."
In response to a request by Eyewitness News, the FDA made this statement: "In fact, there are no FDA-approved drugs with an approved indication to dissolve fat. The FDA cannot assure the safety and efficacy of these types of drugs. Consumers need to know that this is a buyer-beware situation. These are unapproved drugs for unapproved uses and we can't guarantee consumers' safety."
Lisa knew the risks, but for her, it outweighed going another round with liposuction.
"I just want to be able to look in the mirror and like what I see," said Gold.
One more word of caution -- the doctor says lipotherapy should not be used as a weight-loss treatment. Rather, it's intended to help with small areas of body contouring.
The shots cost about $250, and on average most people require at least four injections. Of course, that also depends on the size of the area being targeted."

Dr Cueva's is in TJ Mexico who offers Ultrashape. He is near the Tijuana Mexico San Diego border.
Dr Cueva is in Tijuana Mexico. His 619 number, directions, address, tips to find his office are all in my research. He also has a website. I speak spanish and like to practice so I will also call their office if you really want me to, to make an appointment, I guess. They are open on Saturdays, love that and are quite close to the border. So, I did not have to take any time off from work. And as a former high school spanish teacher, I just like hearing and speaking spanish. Ana my nurse is so friendly, miss her. And we all got spa del dia, spa of the day, after our treatments which is a massage, relaxing warm hand treatment, and a facial while we were all there. I think all 3 spa services costs about 60 US dollars if I can remember correctly. I need a massage now.

Contour I destroys the excess fat cells and they do not regrow. We ask patients to maintain a low carbohydrate diet during treatment so the body can use the emulsified fat instead of ingested carbohydrates. The secret to effective treatment is patient positioning. Tape the treatment area so that the fat is bulging out. Aesthetic patients are demanding and expect outstanding results. Patient satisfaction is surprisingly high.
Dr. Inglefield — We see an average circumference loss of just over 6.0 cm with 96% of patients very satisfied with the results.

" Hi Ok, so I had my treatment yesterday. It was very straight forward. The doctor drew on my tummy, took some photos and then measured me. The treatment uses a computer which tells the doctor where he needs to place the hand piece that delivers the ultra sound. Its all rather high tech and fool-proof and apparently is designed to give even results. Some oil was put on my tummy so the hand piece could glide over my skin, and then it was just moved every few seconds (as instructed by the computer) until the area had been covered. I didn't feel a thing, which was almost weird cos i just expected it to tingle or something. The whole thing took just over an hour and I was able to drive back home. The only thing I have to do now is stick to a low carb diet for four days, which shouldn't be too hard. The doctor said it may take a few weeks until I can see/measure the loss so I'm going back at the end of the month to be measured again. So far, It's been a really positive experience. The clinic was professional looking and easy to get to and the staff were friendly and informative. I just hope the treatment works! But how great is that? To be able to get rid of stubborn fat without having risky surgery, no drugs and no recovery time!"

Yes, there is a circumference change in almost every woman during the same month. This change however is noted in the abdom area. So how to explain cm loss at the thighs ? How come woman are telling us they are fitting in pants that they could not fit into for years despite the fact that they have not lost weight? Are they hallucinating ? No, facts are facts. On the other hand I have never ever seen so many clinical studies by any treatment. Why would a company go to such great lenghts as to proof their method?

Price from an Ultrashape customer July 28, 2007
An ultrashape customer emailed me today about the price that she paid for an Ultrashape treatment I believe in Mexico, can not confirm exact doctor name, but it was in TJ, Tijuana.
I got a treatment back in January and I was notified by Dr. C's office that the price depends on the area, the bigger the area, the higher the price. Also, I only got 1 area done - the stomach, and had 3 treatments.
Here is what Pam S e-mailed me today -
I read several of your responses on various sites about Ultrashape. I returned from TJ yesterday and need to tell you your prices are very old. 3 gringo stomach treatments are now $1200 and 3 abdomen treatments are $2400 so a single treatment in both areas is $1200 plus a 3% credit card processing charge.
You don't say how well you speak Spanish so maybe you got a better rate. I asked for multiple area discount and was told no, however my grade school spanish was sufficuent enough to hear a quote of $1000 to a mexican woman. I didn't catch for which area, but since I got a full price list to do all treament areas and none of them cost $1000 there is a double standard in TJ.
I had signed up single treatment in 3 areas for abs, front thighs and inner thighs ($2800). Got through the inner thighs then the machine went down and they couldn't finish treatment. I'm now waiting to see if a get a postive result on inner thigh before commiting any more money to this.

The only thing that I can think of is that the size treated was different. For example, my 1 friend SM paid 1 higher price for her treatment, than my smaller friend AC, who had a smaller area, paid a lower price. If I can remember correctly, the price difference was about 200. So again, the size treated determines the price.
And, all 3 of us have only had ONE area done , the stomach area. We did not get thigh treatments, so that may also why the price was lower for us.
I used to teach high school Spanish so I am fluent in Spanish.
If it helps, the Cancun doctor that I called 3 months ago was charging 1350 for one (1) treatment, I only asked about the stomach area, did not inquire about stomach and thighs. There is more than doctor who offer ultrashape in Cancun.

This majic wand really worked. How I first learned about Ultrashape Contour I
Ultrashape has no needles, is painless, and it does work. And I've heard from real, happy Ultrashape customers and they are happy that they tried it. It is not lipozap. Lipozap is injections whereas Ultrashape uses ultrasound to melt fat. Ultrashape is not lipodissolve nor fig.com , hope that helps you.

Well because of Ultrashape, I can NOW get into my FAVORITE floral dress in the pic below. Due to chemotherapy and 7 surgeries from cancer in 2005/20006, I could not put this dress around my waist as I had gained a tummy from medical menopause. I was so depressed, tried the gym, tried walking hours every week, triedocbootcamp 4x, everything! And nothing would get rid of my stubborn menop. stomach fat! Nothing! So that is why I think Ultrashape will work for anyone, as it did work for this former post-menopausal, big, stubborn tummy of mine.
But now, I was lucky after researching all about Ultrashape and found my new majic wand called Ultrashape, which came to my rescue . .

Lipodissolve, as it is widely known, [or fig.com ] www.fig.com entails injecting small amounts of soy lecithin and bile salt directly into problem areas on the hips, waist, thighs, and buttocks, and voilà ! the fat supposedly melts away. Sensing the next Botox, doctors from pediatricians to dermatologists have taken a weekend seminar and opened fat-dissolving clinics. "What once was a dream is now a reality," claims the website of LipoNOW clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz. "Expect to lose between 1 to 2 inches of fat with no invasive surgery," promises MedSculpt, a lipodissolve provider in Rockville, Md.
If it sounds too good to be true, that's what the competition thinks. The "body sculpting" procedure, virtually unheard of in the United States two years ago but practiced in Europe for decades, has raised the hackles of plastic surgeons, who argue that removing fat surgically is the proven option. Last month, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery put out a statement saying that the scientific evidence does not exist to show that injection fat-loss treatments do any good or that they're safe. Ross is seeking to get her money back. Jean Shepherd, fig.'s vice president of marketing, said in an E-mail that in such a situation, "the patient would be entitled to a refund and it would be processed in a timely manner." The company and the industry, she said, continue to study why some people don't respond to treatment."

I did ultrashape and got satisfactory results. It definitely doesn’t get rid of large amounts of fat but if you workout and eat healthy and still have trouble spots it’s great.
It was not painful at all and I went back to normal activities immediately.
I have only done one session but I might do another one just to get more ripped. I would only recommend it to people who want to fine tune. as far as not being fda approved, the fda is a pawn of special interest groups so I’m sure they are in no hurry to approve a procedure that doesn’t require medication, hospital stays, anesthesia, and is a fraction of the cost. Several countries that are far more advanced and cautious about plastic surgery have approved it. it’s been 3 months and I’ve had absolutely no side effects. I encourage everyone to do their own research, but my experience was positive although not that dramatic.

My friends in Ohio and New York all want to go up to Niagra Falls this summer and get their Ultrashape session, but it may be a couple more weeks or months until there is an Ultrashape option in Niagra Falls. But Toronto is not that far from the border and if avaiable now!

My 2 friends have now lost 2" inches from their waist, after 1 treatment at Dr. C's office in TJ Mexico. (I lost over 4.5 inches and I had 3 treatments in Jan, Feb, and March.) And I've kept them off.
They went to Tijuana Mexico and tried Ultrashape. They are excited, and over the moon that it did work for them! They are both paying customers, like me just fyi. One is veryyy grateful, because before she saw my results, and until recently, she was realllly close to getting liposuction surgery with the 4 weeks plus of downtime, bruises, etc. and also thought of lipozap and lipodissolve.
But, she did not want surgery, and she thought, well I will wait and see how much it costs. Well now she is thrilled and wearing a dress that she has not worn in over a year, like me, too exciting, and WITHOUT sugery, choosing the wand instead. I am glad that I could help them AVOID surgery and also avoid lipozapinjections yuck.
So now I think that this WILL replace liposuction! Why get cut on, when the wand really does work, and it worked for them. They are all soo excited!

UltraShape: More Non-Invasive Liposuction
It seems that the market for non-invasive, non-suction, liposuction continues to pick up steam with the release of the UltraShape. This device is similar to the LipoSonix because they both utilize focused high intensity ultrasound to disrupt subcutaneous adipose tissue, and both appear to have scientifically sound research to support their claims. However, the UltraShape has added an "optical tracking and guidance system" for improved outcomes.
Therapeutic Transducer (the wand that is magic, for me)
The UltraShape™ patented transducer delivers focused ultrasound energy to the subcutaneous fat layer. Specific, pre-set ultrasound parameters ensure that only the fat cells within the treatment area are targeted and that neighboring tissues such as blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue remain intact. The hand held device also contains an acoustic feedback mechanism that verifies optimal acoustic contact during the treatment.
Advanced Tracking and Guidance System
The real-time tracking system guarantees treatment precision and homogenous treatment results. A camera captures the treatment area and a software algorithm maps the three dimensional treatment zone. The treatment zone is then divided into a grid. The tracking software next guides the user along the grid ensuring that each treatment point on the grid is covered. The safety mechanism within the tracking system monitors treatment to ensure it is performed only within the treatment area. UltraShape: More Non-Invasive Liposuction
It seems that the market for non-invasive, non-suction, liposuction continues to pick up steam with the release of the UltraShape. This device is similar to the LipoSonix because they both utilize focused high intensity ultrasound to disrupt subcutaneous adipose tissue, and both appear to have scientifically sound research to support their claims. However, the UltraShape has added an "optical tracking and guidance system" for improved outcomes.
Therapeutic Transducer (the wand that is magic, for me)
The UltraShape™ patented transducer delivers focused ultrasound energy to the subcutaneous fat layer. Specific, pre-set ultrasound parameters ensure that only the fat cells within the treatment area are targeted and that neighboring tissues such as blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue remain intact. The hand held device also contains an acoustic feedback mechanism that verifies optimal acoustic contact during the treatment.
Advanced Tracking and Guidance System
The real-time tracking system guarantees treatment precision and homogenous treatment results. A camera captures the treatment area and a software algorithm maps the three dimensional treatment zone. Yes, I did it. I got UltraShape and love it. This magic wand really worked!

Well, after researching Ultrashape online for more than 1 year, I found it verrry hard to get any information from anyone who had had an Ultrashape treatment.
I did not know if Ultrashape or liposuction would be better for me. And I realized that there are soo many women, not just cancer survivors, also looking for something just like this, and want to know now if it really does work! (And it was so frustrating for me to not get any answers about this brand new technology, so I decided to share what I found with others this new technology.)
And I like teaching technology, blogs, spanish, and esp. truly enjoy finding new tools like this majic wand that could make my flat tire tummy go away without surgery, so now a month later and many emails later from all over the world inc. USA, Mexico, China, New Zealand, UK, Spain, South Africa, London, Japan, Prague, New York, Tijuana, San Diego, San Bernadino, Denver, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Ohio, California, Tiajuana, India, etc. about my experience with UltraShape, here are my findings.
Well now, I am so glad the I spent less money than liposuction would have cost me on this new option called UltraShape. And I had no pain, and it will not come back clumpy like after liposuction cottage cheese can and does. I know now it worked because I went from a size 16 dress size to a size 12, in just 2 months. And my waist in pants is a size 12, but my untreated thighs in pants is a size 14. What's important is that I only treated my waist area, so that is HOW I know it worked for me, as I lost inches ONLY exactly where I got treatments.

This majic wand really worked. How I first learned about it from an article from ALLURE magazine which was veryyy helpful to me as I hate surgery!
I read about Ultrashape in ALLURE magazine over 2 years ago, and could not wait for the USA FDA approval. I think this will replace liposuction, lipozap, lipodissolve, injections, smart lipo, surgery, etc. It really was painless.

Well because of Ultrashape, I can NOW get into my FAVORITE floral dress in the pic below. Due to chemotherapy and 7 surgeries from cancer in 2005/20006, I could not put this dress around my waist as I had gained a tummy from medical menopause. I was so depressed, tried the gym, tried walking hours every week, tried ocbootcamp 4x, everything! And nothing would get rid of my stubborn menop. stomach fat! Nothing! So that is why I think Ultrashape will work for anyone, as it did work for this former post-menopausal, big, stubborn tummy of mine.
But now, I was lucky after researching all about Ultrashape and found my new majic wand called Ultrashape, which came to my rescue . .
and now I DO have a waist, and now in March 2007 I have lost over 4.75" inches around my waist, thanks to Ultrashape, Dr. Cueva and Ana Maria. (And to Glamour magazine who wrote about it 2 years ago, where I first learned all about this non surgical, no liposuction solution.)

Hi! I can't thank you enough for blogging about your experience in TJ with UltraShape! I went down there this last weekend and had it done! I actually fell asleep during the treatment a couple of times! It felt more like a hot rock massage than anything! Ana Maria spoke very fondly of you and the girls all said to say 'hi'!
